On January 30, 2026, the Department of Agriculture, Food, and Environment (Di3A) of the University of Catania will organize a Training Lab dedicated to nature-based solutions for sustainable water management in the Mediterranean, an increasingly central theme in the debate on urban resilience, climate change, and the quality of built spaces.

The event aims to provide an opportunity for training and discussion between academics, professionals, and students, addressing the role of green infrastructure in a concrete way.

During the Training Lab, practical examples and case studies will be presented, with an in-depth look at the green roof of the Di3A Bioscientific Center, which represents a concrete example of the application of nature-based solutions in a university context. The green roof thus becomes an educational and demonstrative tool, useful for understanding how these solutions can be effectively integrated into existing and new buildings.

The workshop is designed as an active learning opportunity, combining theory and practice to offer participants a clear overview of the potential of green roofs and, more generally, green infrastructure in sustainable water management and contemporary urban design.

Participation is by registration Registration is required on the website www.cseicatania.com in the “participate in the event” section and is limited to a maximum of 50 participants and is open to students, researchers, technicians, and professionals interested in sustainability, environmental design, and innovation in the construction sector.
