An area of approximately 900 m² that was previously unused has been transformed into a semi-intensive green roof, designed as a true open-air laboratory. Three different technological solutions are compared within it: the commercial Green Safe system, drainage modules, and an experimental technology. The system hosts over 1,500 plants, including herbaceous and shrub species, for a total of 56 different species, playing a key role in the regulation of stormwater runoff. Data collected over more than two years of monitoring show a reduction in runoff volumes of between 30% and 60%, with a delayed and gradual water release of up to 21 hours after a rainfall event. These effects are complemented by thermal benefits, an increase in urban biodiversity, and support for pollinating insects.
