The GreenLab project, developed within the framework of the Programma Operativo Complementare (POC) “Per la Scuola” 2014–2020, represents a structured orientation pathway designed for upper secondary students of the Liceo Scientifico Statale “Galileo Galilei” of Catania. Under the scientific coordination of Prof. Antonio Biondi (Di3A, University of Catania) and the didactic supervision of Prof.ssa Piera Cariola, the program articulates a series of thematic modules at the intersection of agro-environmental sustainability, ecological innovation, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as outlined in the 2030 Agenda.

The session held on January 12, 2026, in collaboration with Dr. Emanuela R. Giuffrida, constituted one of the most participatory and transdisciplinary modules of the program, centering on Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) as instruments of ecological and social resilience for local communities. The activity integrated a technical visit to a green roof installation with a co-design workshop conducted jointly with students from a partner secondary school, fostering an intergenerational and inter-institutional dialogue around the potential of NBS in urban and peri-urban contexts. The co-design process engaged participants in collaborative scenario-building, encouraging students to conceptualize NBS interventions responsive to specific territorial challenges, thereby combining scientific literacy with active civic engagement.
