The Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Di3A) has launched a social reintegration and space maintenance program, involving an inmate student enrolled in the Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science and Technology. Under the supervision of Professors Daniela Ferrarello, Giuseppe Cirelli, and Giovanni Cascone, the student took part in the maintenance of the green roof implemented as part of the GiFluid project on Via Santa Sofia, aimed at combating climate change through nature-based solutions (NBS).

The initiative, warmly welcomed by Professors Mario D’Amico and Feliciana Licciardello, symbolizes the removal of “bad behaviors” through the care of plants. The next step will involve incorporating plant species from prison institutions into the green roof, strengthening the integration between the penitentiary environment and the academic world.

The GiFluid project thus represents an example of a more inclusive and sustainable community, providing inmates with opportunities for personal growth and contributing to a better future.
