A Green Lab to rethink urban green design

The workshop, led by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Di3A) of the University of Catania, held on July 31 and August 1, 2023 at the Di3A, saw the collaboration of various partners including the Energy Water Agency of Malta and the municipality of Aci Castello. The main objective was to develop sustainable solutions for the management of rainwater in urban and suburban areas, using green infrastructures such as green roofs and rain gardens. It gathered experts both from Sicily and Malta. The event particularly focused on strategies for water management in the metropolitan area of Catania and in specific Maltese urban areas. During the sessions, several reports were presented by specialists in Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and in urban planning, with particular reference to the mitigation of hydraulic risk.
